How It Feels Like To Be A Teacher

Great Teachers emanate out of Knowledge, Passion and Compassion
Rightly said by our extraordinary teacher and a role model, Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, isn’t it?
Teaching is the most underrated and underestimated profession in our society. But I personally believe that this is the only profession which is not a 9 to 5 job but a complete responsibility and a 24×7 duty where we are not just economically strong but mentally, socially, morally and most importantly, emotionally strong too. Every single day, we impart good moral values and also get the advantage of remaining young at heart, whatever the age maybe.

Though during my campus placement days, I had received offers from companies like IBM and Wipro but now I can say that I am proud of my decision to be in a profession where if I am absent, I am genuinely missed by the people whom I am serving.
Every day, I am bowled with the bouncers of new challenges and spinners of unavoidable situations but when my students come up to me and express their liking and fearlessness towards my subject ‘Mathematics’, it gives me immense satisfaction of performing my task honestly and wholeheartedly. But my work doesn’t end here.

In the entire world, this is the area where we experience the feeling of “motherhood” with hundreds of kids together without being partial to anyone, when we are not actually mothers.

There is almost no limit to the roles a teacher may play. Apart from igniting the fire of curiosity, teachers are surrogate parents, mentors, best friends and secret keepers, counselors and even politicians.
Teachers are sharers of wisdom more than knowledge because knowledge can flourish by reading and experimenting but wisdom spreads only through living.
This profession has also changed my personality completely as I am continuously being watched and followed by the future gems of our society because of which I always have to be at my best in all the ways, be it walking, eating, dressing, speaking or not to miss out, behaving.
And, it can be understood in true senses that “If you ever want to know what a teacher’s mind feels like, imagine a web browser with thousands of tabs open all the time”.
When it comes to making a difference in this world, Teachers are on the top of the list. I am honored to be on this journey with my colleagues as together we have the priceless opportunity to impact, influence and inspire our succeeding generations and youths of our world.
“I am a Teacher and I take pride in it”
