Special Assembly on Munshi Prem Chand

DPS R.N. Extension Celebrates Munshi Premchand’s 139th Birth Anniversary
Munshi Premchand’s 139th birth anniversary was celebrated DPS R.N. Extension as part of the ISA activity under the project “Between The Covers”. The entire assembly was conducted by the students of class 7. The students spoke about his birth, parentage, education, works and his idealism. They shared his thought which was based on Karmic beliefs. The students highlighted how Premchand was a man ‘before his time’ and that his novels and short stories espoused the cause of the poor and the downtrodden. They also pointed out that many of his novels were banned and burnt for the rebellion depicted against society, regressive beliefs and systems. This was followed by a quiz to test the attentivity of the students. The students enacted a short skit in English on one of Munshi Premchand’s plays ‘Boodi Kaki” which was weaved around the plight of a neglected aunt.
